Siemens staff go above and beyond

Gafael Llaw

Staff at Siemens Healthineers in Llanberis have raised an incredible sum of £3,500 for Gafael Llaw.

Staff at the multi-national company’s branch in Llanberis were keen to nominate a charity to support for a year, and following a staff vote, Gafael Llaw came out on top.

During 2019, Jo Jarrett, Debra Drake and Paul Williams with the support of their colleagues arranged various fundraising events. From a cake and a book sale to an epic walking challenge which saw 10 members of staff walking from the summit of Snowdon to Caernarfon castle.

Prof. Dr. Fraser Logue, Vice President and Managing Director from Siemens Healthineers said: “Our staff were inspired by the great work of Gafael Llaw. The work of this local charity pushed people up mountains in atrocious weather and brought out the bakers in an army of staff. I am incredibly proud of the money raised by our staff for such an important cause.”

Gafael Llaw Chairman Iwan Trefor Jones, added: “We can’t thank the staff at Siemens Healthineers enough for their phenomenal fundraising efforts. For a site that employs 400+ members of staff it’s an incredible amount of money.

“We are very lucky as a charity to have the support of companies like Siemens Healthineers fundraising on our behalf, and we appreciate them choosing Gafael Llaw. This is extra special to us as we were chosen by a staff vote, and seeing the enthusiasm, determination and drive of those staff who arranged and took part in the fundraising activities really means a lot.

“We have recently funded a sensory room and new ventilator machine at Ward Dewi, Ysbyty Gwynedd. With continued support of companies such as Siemens Healthineers in Llanberis we can achieve so much more to ensure the best possible care and facilities for children with cancer in north Wales. Watch the space!”
